Many people who suffer frequent cold sores often ask if there is a cure for cold sores. Unfortunately there is no known cure for it. But while there is no cure yet, there are several preventive measures people can take to keep their cold sore outbreaks to a least.
Some of these preventions is avoiding to kiss people who currently have cold sores, stay away from prolonged exposure to the sun to protect the lips, use lip balm with sun block on the lips at all times, and avoiding personal triggers that can lead to a cold sore outbreak. Wear a hat or stay in the shade to keep the lips from getting too much sun. Following these procedures will not guarantee that a person will never have another cold sore, but it will decrease the likelihood that they will have another outbreak.
It is advised to avoid close contact with anyone who currently has a cold sore. It is because people can be spreading the cold-sore-causing HSV-1 virus even when they do not have a cold sores, it is much more likely to spread when a sore is present. It is also advisable to prevent sharing any items with people who have cold sores as well such as toothbrushes, towels, razors, and tableware. It can carry the HSV-1 virus.
People who are sensitive with some foods causing to trigger cold sore outbreak like foods and drinks containing caffeine like chocolate, coffee, and soft drinks must limit their intake of these foods in order to lessen the likelihood of getting cold sore outbreak.
As has been said, there is no cold sores cure and treatment, but there are preventions to reduce the likelihood of a cold sore outbreak. Anyone who has a weakened immune system is at a risk for cold sores, and many of these preventive measures can still be effective.
